At the Indo English School in Rourkela — started in a tin shed by Mihir Baran and Manju Mukherjee, known to everyone as Head Uncle and Head Aunty — NK learned one lesson above all: always try to create jobs.
It became the moral foundation of everything that followed — a belief that business should not only create value, but create opportunity for others.
Starting With One Licence
Guided into iron ore by mentor Sitaram Berlia , NK began with a single trading licence and years spent in the dharamsalas of Barbil and Barbil.

Four Years That Changed Everything
The global recession nearly wiped out the business. NK held on through four difficult years.
Then, in 2012, ₹2.4 Crore of debt was cleared. The business restarted with ₹60 Lakhs .

What followed was a period of rebuilding, expansion and diversification.
Goa blocks were acquired, Anandam Minerals was incorporated in 2022, and Jalahuri was won and made operational in 2025.
